BIOGRAPHY

Named after an authentic Australian shepherd with a fiery temperament, the string quartet “Quatuor Yako” shakes up the codes by giving up nothing to the tradition of excellence inherent in the repertoire it defends.

Noticed at the contest « Musiques d’Ensemble » of the FNAPEC in March 2016, it becomes the same year resident ProQuartet and gets the same year the third prize at the international Orlando competition in the Netherlands.

Guest of the French radio station “France Musique” for the broadcast “Chambre Classique”, this young ensemble is also filmed by Arte Concert on the occasion of the show “Play and Play” with the dance company Bill T. Jones/Amie Zane in November 2015 in Lyon.

Born by the desire of four old students of the “Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Lyon” to share with the public their common passion for this privileged repertoire, the Quartuor Yako is being trained by Yovan Markovitch and Luc-Marie Aguera (Quatuor Ysaye) and further on joins the classes of Christoph Poppen and Hariolf Schlichtig at the Munich Music Academy (Musikhochschule).

Numerous masterclasses including the Academy of Aix-en-Provence, the Festival Quatuors in Bordeaux, the Holland Festival and also the Villecroze and Montepulciano Festivals allow it to benefit in parallel from advices of members of the Quartets Ebène, Artemis, Alban Berg, Belcea, Cherubini, Debussy, Vogler, Danel, Modigliani and also Kronos thanks to the project « 50 for the Future ».

Decided since its beginnings to expand its horizons every day, he creates many works (Xu Yi, Isabelle Fraisse, Tom Bierton, Philippe Racine ...) and will record on CD in the 2019/2020 season the Schubert Quintet with Walter Grimmer as well as a program for string quartet and koto with Mieko Miyazaki.
